What is UPPCS/UPPSC Examination?

UPPSC conducts the examination for Provincial Civil Service Examination known as the Uttar Pradesh Combined State/Upper Subordinate (UPPCS) Exam in the Uttar Pradesh State. It is the exam for the highest government services in the state and is also most preferred after the UPSC IAS examination.

This exam is one of the most prestigious state-level civil service examinations, offering candidates an opportunity to serve in administrative, executive, and other key roles within the state government.

Purpose of the UPPCS/UPPSC Examination

·       Provincial Civil Service (PCS)

·       Deputy Collector

·       Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP)

·       Block Development Officer (BDO)

·       Assistant Commissioner (Commercial Tax)

·       Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM)

·      Tehsildar, and many other posts.

UPPCS Age limit:

Minimum age limit: 20 years.

Maximum age limit: 40 years.

About UPPCS Exam Criterion:

This is the preliminary stage of the UPPSC PCS Examination. It is an objective-type test meant to filter candidates out for the main exam. The Prelims comprise two papers:

Process of UPPSC Exam :

UPPCS  Examination is also popular as a 'Combined State/Separate Upper Subordinate Services Examination (General Selection/Special Selection)'. Every year a large number of students sit for this prestigious state exam. However, the selection ratio remains minimal because of stiff competition. At present, this happens to be the most sought-after examination conducted by Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC). The present article throws light upon the nature and various phases of exam along with the procedure of these phases.

1. Prelims Exam: It is the first stage of the UPPCS selection process. UPPCS Prelims examination consists of 2 papers: 1) General Studies Paper 1 and 2) CSAT Paper 2

Process of Preliminary Examination:

First of all, a notification related to these examinations is issued by the commission. The notification comprises of detailed information regarding the number of posts, syllabus and schedule of the exam, etc. Just after the issuing the notification, the process of registration and filling the online application form starts. The detailed information regarding the process of filling the form is given under the heading 'How to apply online?' under the 'Notification'.

2. Main Exam (written): The UPPSC, like the UPSC, holds the main exam on the pattern of the UPSC Main (written) exam. The UPPCS main exam of the UPPSC is divided into 8 papers in total: 4 General Studies Papers, 1 essay paper, 2 optional papers, and one Hindi paper.

Process of Main Exam:

The main examination is conducted at different centers set up by the commission in Allahabad and Lucknow for the selected candidates in the preliminary examination. Main exam is conducted subject-wise for more than one day.

UPPCS (Selective)

The main exam paper is divided into two parts: Compulsory and Optional

Among the compulsory subjects are four papers on General Studies question papers of General Hindi and Essays. All these papers are of written or descriptive nature.

3. Interview: Personality test is the final round of the UPPCS examination. This round has been given 100 marks for the personality test and is also an important stage to bring out the last rank. Questions asked in the interview round are mainly taken from current events and the Detail Application Form (DAF) submitted at the time of the main examination.

Interview Process:

.Normally, those candidates who pass in the main examination have to appear before the commission one month afterwards through an interview.

.Interview tests the personality of the candidates. Interview  is composed of oral questions asked by the members of the commission.

.Since there are 100 marks to be scored in the interview, as shown below.

.The merit list is finally prepared on the basis of aggregate marks obtained in main examination and interview.

.The list of finally selected candidates is released usually one week after the completion of the entire interview.
