BPSC Exam Pattern 2024:
The BPSC exam format comprises three stages of selection: preliminary, main, and interview. The preliminary test is an objective-type exam that covers general studies and includes topics such as Indian history, politics, geography, and economics, whereas the mains exam is a descriptive paper. There will be 5 papers in the mains examination and all papers are compulsory to be attempted by candidates.

The BPSC Prelims Exam Pattern 2024 is designed to screen candidates for the Main Examination of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC). The Prelims is the first stage of the BPSC Combined Competitive Exam (CCE), and the key details of the exam pattern are as follows:

4. Duration: 2 hours (120 minutes)
5. Subjects:
• General Studies (GS): This includes topics like History, Geography, Polity, Economy, General Science, Current Affairs, and questions concerning the history and geography of Bihar.

• There is no negative marking for wrong answers.
• Each correct answer is granted a mark.
7. Language: The question paper is provided in two languages- Hindi and English.

Purpose of Prelims:
The Prelims Exam is qualifying in nature and does not count towards the final merit list. The marks are simply the cut-off marks that the candidate needs to secure above this level to qualify for the Mains Examination.
Preparation Tips for BPSC Prelims 2024:
Syllabus: Each candidate should be thorough about the syllabus related to the topics for which specific preparation is needed. Much emphasis will be on topics relevant to Bihar.
Current Affairs: Be updated with current events at national and state levels.
Practice Mock Tests: More importance should be given to practicing the previous year question papers and mock tests.
Thereby, improvement in time management will be achieved.
Frequent Revision: In the exam, more importance needs to be given to revision rather than the memorization of important facts.
Main Examination:
Written Exam
Consists of four papers:
General Hindi: Qualifying paper, 100 marks. There must be at least 30% marks for passing. But these marks are not counted while merit is being prepared.
General Studies Paper I: Explains modern Indian history, Indian culture, and geography, 300 marks.
General Studies Paper II: Concerned with Indian polity, Indian economy, general science, technology, and international relations, 300 marks.
Optional Subject Paper: The candidate has to opt any of the optional subjects given below, amounting to 300 marks.
Total marks of the Main examination (excluding Hindi): 900 marks.
The marks scored in the Main examination become a significant determinant of the final merit list.
